Objective
The Nail Technology program provides students with the knowledge to obtain the Nail Specialist Florida State License, as well as the necessary skills to start a professional career in spas, beauty salons, cruises, or independently as business owner.

Course Description   
The school covers in the Nail Specialist Program the tasks, duties, laws and practices associated with the care and beautification of the nails of the hands and feet. The teaching methods used are theories and lecture, a supervised laboratory and services. 

Requirements
Must be 16 years of age and have a high school diploma, or GED.

NT001:  H.I.V/SIDA. Orientation. Control Infection
(20 clock hours total, 2 lecture, 0 lab)

This Course review topics such as HIV/SIDA including its transmission and prevention, Regulations, standard precautions. The understanding of infection control principles, the cleaning, disinfecting and sterilization. Also, welcome students, explain the course options and answer any questions the student might have.

NT002: Nails and Its Disorders
(20 clock hours total, 2 lecture, 0 lab)

This course reviews topics related to the nail structure and growth, the natural nail, the nail anatomy and the nail disorders and diseases.

  • NT003

NT003: Manicure and Pedicure
(40 clock hours total, 2 lecture, 1 lab)

This course reviews topics related to the nail technology tools, professional nail products, the basic manicure, aromatherapy, paraffin wax treatment and its procedures. Also, the pedicure tools, products for pedicure services, the cleaning and disinfection and the procedures for a basic pedicure.

NT004: Nail Tips and Wraps
(40 clock hours total, 2 lecture, 1 lab)

This Course review topics such as the nail tips and wraps, its maintenance, repair and removal and the procedures for its application and removal.

  • NT005

NT005: UV Gels
(40 clock hours total, 2 lecture, 1 lab)

This Course review topics such as the introduction of UV gels, supplies and how to use them, the UV and LED lamps and bulbs and the procedures for UV and LED gel maintenance and removal. 

  • NT006

NT006: Monomer Liquid and Polymer Powder
(40 clock hours total, 2 lecture, 1 lab)

This Course review topics such as the study of monomer liquid and polymer power, its nail enhancement and supplies, the maintenance and crack repair, the odorless products, the colored power products and the procedures for removing them.

  • NT007

NT007: Electric Filling and Nail Art
(40 clock hours total, 2 lecture, 1 lab)

This Course review topics such as the types of electric files, choosing an electric file and its techniques, safety tips for electric filling, the introduction of nail art, the color theory, embellishments, airbrushing and nail art competitions.

  • NT008

NT008: Florida Law
(20 clock hours total, 2 lecture, 0 lab)

This Course review the rules set forth by the Florida Department of Professional Regulation of Cosmetology in chapter 477.

Requirements for Graduation
Students must complete 260 hours of theory, and lab/shop training with a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 2.0.

Requirements for Licensing
Submit to the State Board of Cosmetology the following:

1. Application form (duly completed and signed)
2. Money order or check in the proper amount depending on odd or even years payable to DBPR.  The school office will help determine your total amount. 
3. Certificate of completion of H.I.V. /A.I.D.S. Seminar (4 hours).

Diploma
After the completion of the program, the student receives a diploma providing that the final examination is approved and all requisites and financial obligations with the institution have been met.

Method of Payment
Full payment may be made in advance, at the beginning of the program, by mid-point of the program, or paid monthly arranged with the School office.
